Sync Documents Across Devices
Audeus features a real-time cloud synchronization engine that links your personal reading library, document folders, text highlights, bookmarks, and exact audio playback progress across all your devices. Whether you are using our browser extensions on a laptop, our web application, or our mobile apps, your reading workspace remains completely in lockstep.
With native integrations for popular tools and real-time syncing, you can easily manage your reading library using our Android App and iOS App alongside our desktop browser add-ons.
How Audio Position Syncing Works
At the heart of the Audeus experience is our word-level position tracking. When you listen to a document or webpage, Audeus tracks your playback progress down to the exact word and sentence:
- As you listen, your active reading position is continuously saved to your account.
- If you pause the audio on your laptop and close your browser, the exact timestamp and word highlight are stored in our cloud database.
- When you open the Audeus app on your iPhone or Android phone and tap the same document, playback will automatically resume from the exact word where you left off.
This seamless handoff is perfect for switching from desk work to listening on your daily commute.
Saving and Uploading Documents to Your Library
Your personal cloud library acts as a single repository for all your reading materials. You can add documents and web pages to your library in three ways:
1. Web Page Clipping (Chrome, Edge, & Firefox Extensions)
When browsing articles, research papers, or newsletters on your computer:
- Expand the Audeus player sidebar or click the toolbar icon.
- Click the Save to Library button.
- The extension will instantly extract the clean text, strip out ads, and sync the document to your cloud library.
2. Desktop Uploads (Audeus Web App)
To upload books, documents, or articles from your computer:
- Open the Audeus Web App in any web browser and log into your account.
- Drag and drop files from your desktop directly into the browser window.
- Audeus supports standard file formats, including PDF, ePub, TXT, and web links.
3. Mobile Imports (iOS & Android)
To import files directly on your mobile device:
- Open the Audeus mobile application.
- Tap the Add Document button (plus sign) in your library.
- Select files from your local device storage, or connect directly to cloud storage providers such as Apple iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or Dropbox.
Highlights, Bookmarks, and Settings Sync
In addition to your documents and audio progress, Audeus synchronizes your active reading tools and custom configurations:
- Highlighters and Notes: Any text highlights, annotations, or bookmarks you make on a document will appear when you open that document on any other device.
- Playback Speed: Your preferred listening speed (up to 3.5x) is stored on your profile so you do not have to readjust it when switching devices.
- Voice Preferences: Your selected standard and premium AI voices carry over automatically, ensuring a consistent narrator voice across all client apps.
Troubleshooting Sync Discrepancies
If you notice that your document library or audio progress is not syncing between devices, follow these troubleshooting steps:
Confirm Your Accounts Match
Double-check that you are logged into the exact same Audeus account on all platforms. If you signed up using Google SSO on your phone, make sure you use the same Google login on your desktop web app rather than creating a new passwordless email account.
Verify Internet Access
Audeus requires an active internet connection to upload progress and fetch updates. Ensure your computer is connected to Wi-Fi and your phone has stable mobile data or Wi-Fi access.
Perform a Manual Refresh
If a newly saved document does not show up immediately:
- On Mobile Apps: Swipe down on your library screen to trigger a pull-to-refresh sync.
- On the Web App: Reload the browser tab to force a database fetch.
